Carrera Cup Resumes at Sandown

The 2023 Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship resumes for Round 5 at Sandown this weekend, with RAM Motorsport’s drivers Dylan O’Keeffe and Dean Cook both in action.

While this season has not been kind to O’Keeffe so far, he is looking forward to returning to a venue where he achieved a race victory last season, and this weekend he will be on double duty, also driving alongside James Golding in the Sandown 500 Supercars event.

"Sandown was one of our strongest rounds last year and our car seems to work well there, with good traction off the low speed corners leading onto the two long straights," O'Keeffe said.

"In the last round at The Bend, I qualified well, but our race pace wasn't quite where it needed to be, which put me back in the pack and ultimately saw me getting involved in the Race 3 accident. The RAM Motorsport/GWR crew did a great job to fix the car so quickly and it felt perfect at the test day."

Meanwhile, Cook is stringing together a solid season in the Pro-Am class and is currently third in the standings, after notching up his first race win of the season at The Bend last time out.

With the 500km Supercars endurance race taking up much of Sunday’s schedule, the Carrera Cup action will predominantly be held across Friday and Saturday, with just the single sprint race on Sunday. All sessions will be shown live on Fox Sports and Kayo.
