RAM Motorsport Heads Back to Bathurst

The RAM Motorsport squad heads back to the Holy Grail of Australian Motorsport - Mount Panorama - this weekend for the seventh and penultimate round of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia, with Dylan O’Keeffe aiming to boost his championship chances heading into the final round on the Gold Coast.

It’s been a love-hate relationship for RAM Motorsport at the Mountain so far this year. It started on a positive note with a class win and fourth outright at the Bathurst 6 Hour on the Easter weekend, but the 12 Hour was a tougher event that ultimately resulted in a DNF for the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

O’Keeffe is in for a busy weekend - as well as competing in the Carrera Cup races, he’ll also be making his third start in the Bathurst 1000, co-driving the the Subway PremiAir Racing Commodore alongside James Golding.

In any case, O’Keeffe is excited about driving the new Type 992 Porsche GT3 Cup car around the Mountain for the first time.

“With the extra aero, the new cars will be very quick over the top of the Mountain so I’m expecting the lap times will be faster than old cars,” he said.

“After the last round at Sandown, the championship has become very close, with at least five drivers still in contention for the title.

“At Bathurst, it’s imperative that we finish ahead of the series leader to make sure I’m in a position to fight for the title on the Gold Coast.”

All this weekend’s Carrera Cup races will be shown on FOX Sports and Kayo, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday to also be broadcast on Channel 7.
